Scandinavian/French inspired Buffet

Hello, I'm so glad you stopped by :)

My husband found this buffet at a store and showed it to me saying
"Honey, I think you'll like this one!"
Oh yeah....love at first sight.
So she came home with us.
It's a lovely buffet with lots of storage, girly too :)

I feel so calm and happy when I paint...

First coat of my homemade chalk paint.
Now I really love this paint, I always mix in some unsanded grout to my latex paint.

....and here's the finished product!!!

What do you think?

Top drawer opens like this.

Wall paper inside.

Lovely legs :)

I looooooove crystal :)

I dry brushed the top for a weathered look.

Enough pictures already? lol
Anyway, I'm happy with the way she turned out :)
Please let me know if you like it...

My next project: Another buffet!!

Have a wonderful rest of the week everyone :)

French Coffee Table

Bonjour tous le monde :)

Today, I'm writing about my coffee table.
It all started like this

I liked the shape but it was a little too "country" for me.

One day, I brought her out on the deck and started stripping the top coat,
thinking I'll stain the top dark walnut colour.

It was not too hot, a good day to work outside.....until.....

I gave a good stripping.....
Then the beautiful grain pattern started...to....
((((((DISAPPEAR)))))

So I gave up on my dream of staining and started painting....lol

It was one of those "Oops" paint from a local home center.
You know sometimes they have mistint or returned paints and
they sell them much cheaper than regular paint?
One day, my husband went there and said to the clark he'd take everything if he can have them at A DOLLAR EACH.
And she said.....OK!! :)
He came home with like 10 cans of paint :)
( but some of them are Venetian Plaster or stone effect ones so I can't really use them)

So I used one of these paint..... it didn't say "mistint"on the can, it said
"MISTAKE" in capital.
I was wondering what does that exactly mean but I used it anyway, yes, I'm very easy-going :)
but as you can see the door, the colour didn't really mixed or something...
I had to put 5 coats to cover the wood.
(Then in my head I went " quality pays!" ....oh well..)

Anyway, I finished painting, applied Polyurethan, then waxed.

Voila!

I did white line around the top.
I think it's very Frenchy :)
The chicken coop wire is ripped one side, but it's for us to keep in our living room so I'll leave as is until the boys kick their foot into it and completely destroys it or something...then I'll fix it :)

The door slides sideways:)

What do you think?
I'd appreciate it if you can leave me a comment!

Have a great weekend, everybody :)

1930's Vintage Dresser with Mirror

Hello!!
This is another project I recently finished.

I found this vanity on Craig's List and fell in love right away.
It's a dresser from 1930s and I love the shape and the details, so feminine.

I've been using lots of gray and blue paints so far, so this time, I wanted a new colour.
Mixing up my own colour and making it into chalk paint.
I did this after midnight, when it was so quiet and everyone else was asleep,
I felt like I was a mad scientist :)
It's hard to see what colour this is from the picture, but it's mint green.

I always get so excited when I put the first splash of paint, don't you?

I painted the details white.
When the colour is light like this, you sometimes have to put many coats of paint.
I did 4 coats of green and white :)
After I did a little bit of distressing and lots of hand waxing......

She looks like this.
I think she turned out pretty.
My daughter came in and said
"Mom, everything looks so pretty after you touch them!"
That made me really happy!

I used the natural & dark wax.

I like beading:)

Painted inside white.

My daughter brought this necklace to me to use it in a picture:)

Well, new school year has just started today.
I hope all the kids will have a wonderful year ahead!!
