Boy's Blue Dresser

My husband is always on the hunt for decent furniture for me to fix up:)
I am too of course, but sometimes I'd go for some really shabby (not in a good way!) piece he'd just say "Don't get it, it'd be too much work!"
(but I get it anyway!)

So when he told me he was getting a dresser for me,
I knew it'd be in decent shape.

...and it was!!
It was an all wood, good sized dresser with some scratches here and there
just needed some TLC.

I painted with my homemade chalk paint,
the blue is *Storm Chaser* from General Paint.

It was a simple dresser, I wanted to add something.
I have  this alphabet stencil from a dollar store (Dollarama),
so I decided to stencil some words on it.
These days, dollar store has really nice craft supplies and
I'm very happy with this stencil.

Here's the finished product.

What do you think?

The drawers don't look like they are straight in theses pictures
but they are perfectly straight:)

I distressed the dresser a little.

I've got many projects going on right now and
felt like nothing will ever get finished...
but finally this one is done, yay!!

Coming up next is the blue personalized desk...
oh wait I still have to finish the chair to go with it.
So it'll be either the desk or silver vintage dresser
or French cane chair or rocking horse....you'll see, lol

Keep warm and stay healthy everyone!!

Sheet Music Night Stands

Hello friends!!
I hope you had a wonderful halloween last night.
Here in BC, unfortunately it rained but we managed to go out and got lots of candies:)

This is my son right before heading out for trick or treat.
He made the head himself but do you know what this is?
It's a robot from LMFAO but many people thought it was Sponge Bob!! lol

OK, back to furniture...Yesterday I finished these night stands.

We had 2 stands from a friend when he moved to Montreal a while ago.
I forgot to take a before picture....
The drawer front had a green panel insert, the rest was pretty much looked like this wood.
My son wanted to painted it black and he did it, but after the first coat,
he decided painting was not his thing, lol
( he painted the other one)
So it became my next project.

I painted in light blue and distressed a little.

Added wall papers on the drawer front.

I like the little gold showing through on the handles :)

They are Palliser night tables and the sticker inside says 99.
So it was probably made in that year...

They are good quality night tables and in good condition but
the tops were not really smooth and had some ring marks.
I tried to sand it but they never disappered
so I decided to add some sheet music to cover it.
I love them because they give a piece whimsical feel :)

Here are the finished products:)

Sheet music was glued and sealed with Mod Podge.

I think they turned out pretty good.

I'm almost done with a dresser so hopefully I can share that with you soon.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone:)

Homemade Chalk Paint ~Gray & Blue Buffet~

The weather has been incredibly beautiful here in BC.
I finished my buffet yesterday and was planning to take pictures of it today.
I woke up this moring and it was cloudy, making inside the house a bit dark....

so I dragged the buffet to the entrance and
opened the door to get a little bit of sun light :)

( That's why you see the door in the mirror)

Anyway, it started like this.
I thought about "paint or not to paint" for a while
because as you can see, it was quite nice, um, from far.
But up close, she showed her age and was too orange for me
and also I have another buffet which I decided not to paint
so I decided to paint this one.....(and that's my excuse to paint)

She's got the cutest hardwares ever!
I left them as is, just gave them a good cleaning, I think it goes well with the painted buffet.
I also painted white lines on the front.

All the furniture I paint I whip up my homemade chalk paint.
I've been making it for a while and I found out that if you add more unsanded grout to the paint and dilute it with more water,
the quality of the paint becomes more chalky, which I love :)

Love the voluptuous legs...

I added music sheets inside for a whimsical feel :)

Glued it with Mod Podge and sealed it with it as well.

I'm happy with the way she turned out :)

I'm currently working on a French chair, but the sewing machine needle broke yesterday and the machine is acting up, hope I can make it work and finish the chair soon.
Take care everyone:)
