Gray Vintage Dresser

I finally finished this dresser :)

According to the date of *before* pictures,
( I usually take pictures right after I bring them home)
I've had this dresser since November 2011.

*Before*

It passed the winter in the shed with no heat and because of the moisture,
drawers were stuck for a while....aaarrrggghhh!!!
So in the spring I decided to bring her inside hoping one day the drawers go back to its former shape and start moving.
A couple of months later, the drawers started to glide.
I gave a goooood waxing on the drawer guides and they started to slide nicely:)

Time to paint!

***towering inferno*** lol
You know when you have 9 drawers to paint, it's a lot.

I painted them in my usual homemade chalk paint.
First drawer in the picture is after it's glazed in darker gray.

Glaze gives a nice character:)

I painted the grooves in white, one by one.
I love to do these tiring little painting.
It never bothers me to do it, I just enjoy it:)

Then I spray-painted the handles and waxed the entire dresser.
Sounds so easy but it involved lots of sanding, wood filling,
 painting,glazing and waxing.
Took me a whole year to finish it......
(.....but it's because I often wander around to do some other projects...lol)

Also the backing had a little tear so my hubby replaced  the whole thing,
now it has a brand new backing:)
It's in the back so no one will see it...but
Thank you darlin' !!

Anyway, here she is!!

I'm pretty happy how she turned out.

The back of this dresser is my kitchen.
I didn't design the cabinet but I did choose all the materials.
  and I love it:)
Glazed antique looking cabinet doors, crystal knobs....
It feels very special, especially when you have the opprtunity to
get involved in the project.

This is when the cabinets were being installed.

Granite counter tops were installed.
And here it is all finished:)
( corner cabinet glass was missing at that point)

Kitchen is the heart of a house and I'm blessed to have a kitchen that I love!
But now it's all messy from the cooking
( believe me, it doesn't look like this sparkling clean right now, lol)
so I'm going to clean it up.

Take care everyone!

Black & White Coffee Table ( with some sparkle )

Hello, hello, hello.
It's Monday, start of the week!
Hope everyone will have productive 7days:)

I'd like to share my coffee table with you
I finished a couple days ago.

It started out like this.
Pretty shape but it had a bad finishing job and I could see tons of hair from
a brush left on under a thick coat of varnish....

See the hair stuck on the edge?
Actually there were many and I think I removed at least 20!!!
( This is after I did the first coat of paint, it never looks good after one coat..)

Both side of this table has this nice design which I painted white.
A handle was missing from one side so I removed the existing one,
then there was a hole from the handle so I glued a sparkle.

I painted the table black and added a white line on top,
it makes such a contrast between the colors.

I applied 2 coats of Polyurethane and waxed the eniter table 3 times
....and woke up next morning with muscle pain...lol

And here she is now:

I think it turned out pretty good:)

No distressing this time.

What do you think?

Thank you for stopping by and have a great week!!

Vintage Stamps Side Table

Hello friends!

I finished another side table today, this is my 3rd one this year.
(and the first 2 are already sold, I'm super happy)

Actually I've got 2 of these round tables and finished one.
They had really shiny surface so I scratched them with
80-grit sand paper first to have better adhesion.
I painted first with white chalk paint, which I already had.
I used it as a primer.
Chalk paint has good grip on shiny surface
so I figured I could use them as a primer.
( it's a small trade secret, I guess)

I wanted to have totally different looks on these two,
so I went ahead with only one first.
( and from here, I forgot to take pictures...again....hahaha)

Painted with the same teal paint I used for teal side table,
then lined around with black paint.

I glued some really cute vintage stamp images on the top
and this is how it turned out.

My son said he absolutely loves it :)

One side has this pretty handle.

and of course I had to distress it :)

I waxed the table first, glued papers on top with Mod Podge,
sealed the papers with Mod Podge,
then applied Polyurethane twice, waxed again and done!

and of course I have to show you the legs.
Love.....

I love these stamp images:)

Well I'm going to make dinner now...
I hope I can show you the second table before the end of this week.

Keep warm everyone and stay healthy!!

One Side Table, Two Looks

Happy Tuesday!!

It's still cold and wet here in Vancouver suburb,
how is everyone doing?

My resolution for 2013 is to post more about what I do on here and try to get involved more in the Blogland :)
.....and also to get organized!...
(this is my every year resolution which I have hard time accomplishing lol)

Anyway, I'd like to share with you my *fun* table today!

Here's the before:

An all wood, lovely side table.
I know, I know, I just could refinish the surface and restian the wood
and I would have a beautiful side table.
But I like to paint.
So I painted.

I thought this year I would put much more effort in my blog
( and I just said that!!)
but then I realized that
I completely forgot to take any * during* pictures....aw...

So I'll go straight to the end result.

TA-DA!!!!

I think it's cute....what do you think?
( Notice the Chambord bottle? More about it later)

(The bottom center has a diffrent image)

I thought I'd stop here and finish the project but then I had a wonderful idea.
I thought it'd be fun to flip the table and have a different look!
So that's what I did!!!!

TA-DA!!!!  for the second time :)

I added the music sheet on the other side :)

So when you want to change the look,
all you need to do is flip!
( do not forget to remove anything on it though..lol)

Isn't it neat?
I absolutely love it:)

ONE TABLE...

( the bottom I used my homemade stencil )

TWO LOOKS!

It's constructed only with spindles, there are no nails or screws:)

Every parts come off like this.

I distressed the legs and used a gel stain to make them look aged:)

The painted side is applied with Polyurethan,
Sheet music side is sealed with Mod Podge and
entire table is hand waxed.

Now onto Chambord Liqueur.

I found this beautiful empty bottle at a local thrift store.
Isn't it darlin'?
The moment I saw it, I grabbed it and put it in my cart:)
I'd never heard of Chambord before.
It is made from red and black raspberries,
Madagascar vanilla, Moroccan citrus peel, honey and cognac.
Doesn't it sound wonderful?
I heard that some people drizzle it over ice cream....yum!
I wanted to try it but I couldn't find one comes in this type of bottle,
so I didn't buy it.
I'm not  much of a drinker so...I felt it's just not the same without the cute bottle.....

This is the bottle I saw at a liqour store.

See?
It's not the same.....

Anyway, I hope I'll have an opprtunity one day to taste this sweet liqueur:)

Have a happy week everyone!!
