French Provincial Dresser

I love French Provincial furniture.

Lovely curves, ornate details, they are my first choice of furniture style.

The other day, I found this lovely dresser at a store.

It was priced a bit high (no wonder,it was pretty),
But I knew I was gonna get it.

I told the lady who worked there that I'd take it

then she said "Oh, you should've come here last week,

all the furniture was 40% off!!"

"What? Really?" I said.

"Yep, EVERYTHING was 40% off,until yesterday. "

She said.

That was Monday and that point I was wondering

 if she was trying to torture me!! lol

So, I tried to have the 40% off deal that day, telling her we'd take it right away.

She went to talk to the manager but she said no because

the sale ended the day before and there was nothing they could do....

( because of the computer system )

I must've had a sad look on my face because
she said she could give me 10% off,

So I took the deal and brought it home.

Here's how she looked before.

Pretty, don't you think?

But I have to say the color was out of date.

I used Duck Egg and Old White to bring back her beauty suited for today.

Lightly distressed throughout.

She had gold details so I distressed to reveal some of it.

And spary painted white and added gold to original hardware,

finished with dark wax.
Also entire dresser was hand waxed using clear wax.

Complete with the pretty liners inside :)

Duck Egg, Old White and gold.....love :)

5 Drawer Dresser ~another Caribbean Blue project~

It's been such a beautiful day today :)

The sky was blue and lots of sunshine filled my house...

And do you know what I did?

Instead of going outside to enjoy the beautiful day,

I stayed inside to finish my latest dresser!

But it was well worth it in the end...I think :)

This was how it all started...

 I painted the last dresser in Caribbean Blue by FAT Paint and I loved it so much,

when I saw this dresser at a store, I knew which color to use right away!

"Caribbean Blue, white trims, white washed gold hardware"

I could picture the finished project in my head at the store already.

So I got to work.

Sand.(very lightly)

Fill some dents.

Sand again.

Paint.

Paint more.

Paint even more.

Paint hardwares.

Decoupage on top.

Liners inside.

Polyurethane on top.

Wax entire dresser.

(Oh, no distressing this time)

......and DONE :)

I think you can't go wrong with Caribbean Blue!!

You know, every time I finish up a project, my work area is so....messy!!

I get too carried away on the project and don't really care to keep the area

clean and tidy...at all...

So tomorrow, I'll do a good cleaning and...

.....start another project!

Caribbean Blue Dresser ~FAT Paint~

Hello everyone!
I hope you're enjoying beautiful spring :)

When it's nice here in Vancouver suburb,

it feels like summer,

but when it's rainy it's still cold.....

Well I hope today's post will make us feel like we are at

the Caribbean beach...(or in Paris :)

This dresser started out like this.

She was sort of yucky brown color and corners and edges were chipped 

 showing more old paint underneath,

looks like she used to be green and pink.

On Facebook, I started to read more and more about FAT Paint

and was wondering if I can buy them around here.

I googled and found out that they make this fabulous paint in New Westminster!!!!

It's like a 15 minute drive from my house.

Hooray!!!!!!!

( I just got my driver's license the other day and

I'm still scared to drive alone though....)

Anyway, so I went to the store and bought this beautiful Caribbean Blue.

Isn't it lovely?

The color is gorgeous turquoise blue and it makes me happy just looking at it :)

I gave a good sanding on the whole dresser and painted it in this lovely color.

I know with FAT Paint, I don't really need to sand a piece,

but it's an old dresser and I wanted to have a smooth surface.

See the top and bottom drawer knobs?

They were completely stuck on the drawer,

I tried to take them off,

even tried to smash them with a hammer,

 but it wouldn't budge!!

Then my hubby came with an electric saw and

cut them off, even with metal screws in them!!!

Then I distressed here and there, I aimed for shabby chic look,

I hope I achieved it :)

Then I stenciled " Avenue des Champs Elysees" on the front.

Have you been there and walked down this lovely avenue?

I have (only once) back in 1994.

......Oh my goodness 1994 is 19 years ago!.....

No wonder I'm feeling old...lol

I wish I can live there or stay there for a while :)

Anyways, here's how she looks like right now.

I really like how she turned out :)
