1930's Vintage Dresser with Mirror

Hello!!
This is another project I recently finished.

I found this vanity on Craig's List and fell in love right away.
It's a dresser from 1930s and I love the shape and the details, so feminine.

I've been using lots of gray and blue paints so far, so this time, I wanted a new colour.
Mixing up my own colour and making it into chalk paint.
I did this after midnight, when it was so quiet and everyone else was asleep,
I felt like I was a mad scientist :)
It's hard to see what colour this is from the picture, but it's mint green.

I always get so excited when I put the first splash of paint, don't you?

I painted the details white.
When the colour is light like this, you sometimes have to put many coats of paint.
I did 4 coats of green and white :)
After I did a little bit of distressing and lots of hand waxing......

She looks like this.
I think she turned out pretty.
My daughter came in and said
"Mom, everything looks so pretty after you touch them!"
That made me really happy!

I used the natural & dark wax.

I like beading:)

Painted inside white.

My daughter brought this necklace to me to use it in a picture:)

Well, new school year has just started today.
I hope all the kids will have a wonderful year ahead!!

A Little Girl's Waterfall Style Desk

Hello everyone!!

I hope everybody  had a wonderful summer :)
As for me, I've been away from the Blogland all summer just because I didn't finish
any project....lol
I did, actually have some projects going on but nothing had gotten finished.
But today, I finally finished 2 projects.
One of them is this girl's desk.

It started like this....

It was a handsome piece but it'd seen better days.

I filled some deep dents...

Then painted with my custom mixed pink chalk paint.
After that I added stencilling designs and applied wax.

This is how it looks like right now :)

I painted darker pink inside:)

Little doggies stickers inside for fun :)
( it's because there was  tiny ink spots which won't hide under many many coats of paint to tell you the truth!)

I hope you liked my newest creation :)

Gray, white and silver dresser

This is how I feel often towards my kids & husband but I don't say it aloud.
(It's my daughter's)

Anyway, I found this dresser at a thrift store.
It's not too big, not too small but can hold lots of stuff, a good sized dresser.

I've been in the mood for gray ( and blue) for a while now, especially the combination of *grey+white+metallic silver (for the hardware)*
For me, this combo works just great.
So that's what I did, cleaned up first, sanded lightly where it had uneven surface,
painted in gray and painted the trims white and distressed a little.

Then I felt it was not quite done yet.
So I added glaze.

Wiped it off....

Do you see the difference?
( ok, the first drawer is not the same as 2nd & 3rd, if you noticed)

The top drawer is not glazed and bottom drawer is glazed.
It gives more character I think.
Then I painted the hardware in metallic silver, I use the spary paint from Rustoleum.
The quality, colour and finish is beautiful and it's my favorite.

Added the sprayed hardwares and...

Ta-da!! :)

What do you think?
I think it turned out pretty, if I'm wrong please look at rule 1. lol

Well I'm off to paint a child's desk.
Have a great weekend everyone :)
